Hihi!! I was someone very excited for the game, I recently played it and since you're allowing feedback I thought I would leave some notes on my experience, sorry its so wordy (':

- The way Macaque is characterized honestly is really offputting to me as well, but others here have already dipped into that so I will leave this point as is and move on to other things I haven't seen too delved into!

- It's understandable you only have one writer currently, but I would genuinely suggest hiring someone else to help, or at the minimum have a teammate help with spellchecking (at some point in the game the word 'tattoo' is in the dialogue for no reason? It's not even a misspelling so I was pretty confused) since this will help the game have more solidified and cohesive writing!

- This is not a 'one size fits all' point, but the characterization of Y/N seems very lackluster. I recognize that this is a dating game for a semi-niche fanbase, and so obviously a majority of us are fanfiction fans, but having that be the bulk of our personality felt a little disappointing to me (I don't mind a few wink and nudge references here and there though!) I know that it's really annoying to get suggestions on what to do with your personal project, but if I may be so bold I would like to bring up the idea of non-important options! Maybe instead of Y/N going to bed to use chatbots and fanfiction, the player could choose a low-stakes option list of things that gives a brief dialogue, like "Use your phone, Read a book, Catch up on your favorite show" that sort of thing! That way the player feels a little more in control of their Y/N and you can have multiple avenues to add references and other neat writing details (:

- Let me start by saying I really think the art style is cute! But I do have some comments on that as well. Others here have already mentioned it so I won't harp on how rough it generally looks currently, but I would really love to see the artists spent more time on perfecting their craft! From artist to artist, There's multiple points in the demo where while Macaque is shirtless, his pec and ab details are clearly done with a thinner line weight which was a little distracting, considering the rest of the character art is done in a nice and thick line weight. Backgrounds are super hard, trust me I know, but the perspective of Y/N's bedroom needs some work, again it's the sort of thing where it is distracting to notice. It looks really well drawn, but the bed and desk symmetry make it seem like they're angled on a corner, not a flat floor and wall area.

- Mechanic wise, the text would look cleaner and be easier to read if the dialouge popping up in the box would change with every switch in scenery or character sprite. In the game when the text box has more to say but, for example, Macaque hasn't changed sprites yet mid conversation, the text just adds onto the current box instead of moving to a new one. I don't know if it's easier that way from a game-building perspective, but as a player it genuinely was kind of hard on the eyes and had me confused multiple times trying to find where the next chunk of dialouge was. If everytime new text was added in a new box instead of adding onto the already existing one, it would look much smoother!

Also just in case I didn't make it clear, I do want the best for this project, and I am very well aware that this is currently a demo. Even though some of my points were more opinionated, I think it matters nonetheless since general opinions from the fanbase can really help a project!!

played the demo partially. it's not THAT bad but its incredibly weird that the only thing you can do is kiss macaque or slap him when he gets really close and grabs your chin- and if you choose to slap him because you're reasonably uncomfortable with his actions, he immediately says you need an "attitude check" which is fucking crazy considering he's stalking you and manipulating you into a date. and then you get hit with a bad end. hello?? i hope this changes once the full game releases bc this is really disappointing tbh. the writing and characterization needs work. the art is super cute though so points for that.

edit: played the rest, all options possible. i want to really, really emphasize; the characterization of macaque needs to be way better and the player needs to be less characterized. the writing is painful to get through and the y/n does Not feel like an actual self insert. its just a demo but i hope in the full release, y/n gets to be more than just "its just like my character ai and fanfiction!!!!" jesus christ

I've played the demo and i am SO excite for it to be done!!! I can't wait to play the next few endings!! i hope you're doing well! Keep up the good work!<3

no rush but when is an update?

I have played this game and I can honestly say it is massively disappointing. For one, the writing is dreadful, the game is laughably short, and Macaque's characterization has been hugely mishandled and is a far cry from his personality in the show. The player character also severely lacked polish when it came to its design, appearing to be rushed and done sloppily and with little care or attention.  Beyond that, the backgrounds are laughable, struggling with proportion and continuity, as well as overall quality. The actual textbox is also atrocious though, as it seems very stretched and blurry. Overall, disappointing game, not nearly as good as led to believe otherwise.

finally someone spoke up about this

dude its a game made by fans AND a demo,if youre so pissy that you had to leave a hate comment just make the game yourself lol💀

(+2)

its not a hate comment its criticism. they asked for criticism and received it, not everyone needs to like the game.

Defending it won't make it any better. My comment while critical, also outlined the major issues present. If the devs can take it in mind and improve the game from that, then good on them, I hope they do. Otherwise, it's only a matter of time before something else blows this slop out of the water.

Hi, I’m the ex-artist for backgrounds for LLL, yes I’ll admit I did rush because I was working in school simultaneously while doing the backgrounds and dealing with extreme burn out. I dont recall asking for this criticism but thank you anyways. This isn’t meant to be a rude reply in any sense btw, because I’m still very much learning things like perspective and wanted to clear this up.(also these backgrounds will not be in the final game, at least I hope they won’t be, since I left the team and asked for my work to be removed.)

Wait, how do I play this? I wanna play this so badly but it's not opening up- oh wait, I have a chromebook, no windows or apple. Oh.

I played the game and I have to say it's fun. However, there is one significant drawback. I don’t know if this is due to the size of my computer screen (my screen is huge), but many of the pictures are complete soap. I mean they have low resolution. Fuzzy. (I'm sorry, English is not my native language) Especially on the menu.

Hello there, thank you for playing the game! The pictures have low resolution due to the resizing. Discord resized them when I input them in the files and resizing them back up made it fuzzy. We do intend to change the artwork to a much better resolution one Wukong's route is out. Thank you for the feedback!

Man I wish I had a computer because literally I have an Android 😭

Played this on Christmas morning bc I couldn't sleep. What a Christmas miracle fr

It would be good if they had the option to choose a language

I really enjoyed the demo. You handled Macaque's character very well. I am excited to interact with other characters from the series.

I GOT JUMPSCARED BY A LMK FANGAME ON ITCH.IO
